Sgaragac and thermodynamic bureaucracy

    aka man-soy dealing with fridges and stoves.

    Well, I would like to introduce you to a wonderful branch of physics and engineering: thermodynamics.

    Of course, one has to ask what thermodynamics has to do with the subject! But more importantly: what does it have to do in relation to what: well thermodynamics has to do with everything. Explicitly the first and second principles of thermodynamics.

    To make a long story short:

    1st principle of thermodynamics: all energy that enters a system must also leave it or the system accumulates energy or it deprives itself of energy.

    A human being eats (input of energy into the system), the processed food is expelled in other forms such as urine, faeces, radiated heat and CO2. Food goes from a high to a lower energy state. Not only movement but also mental processes (thinking about pussy or boobs or phantasmagorical new European standards as well as thinking about the highest spheres of human knowledge) will consume energy. The quantity is considered here, not the quality of both movement and thought. If you eat more than you consume you get fat, if you eat less than you consume you lose weight, simple as that.

    2nd principle of thermodynamics: all energy expended to perform work is transformed into work (regarded as the goal of energy input) and heat. The ratio between ‘how much work is produced’ and how much energy is used is considered the efficiency (heat is considered a waste). The more petrol a car uses to get from A to B, the less efficient it will be considered.

    As you can see, an important observation may jump out at the witty reader here: the work ‘produced’ by a certain process is the important part. The ‘quality’ of the work is how that energy fed into the system is used. As mentioned, one can use the energy of food to think about chicks and tits or create the Divine Comedy. It can be moving boxes from one side of the room to the other indefinitely: you are doing a job… but that is bullshit, chopping wood for the winter is definitely a more interesting action. The utilisation of resources (food you put into your body) may be the same but the ‘quality’ of the end product is decidedly different.

    Some people, sitting and warming the famous desks, do the same. You see thermodynamics is involved, with their bodies they heat the environment! With their actions they raise the temperature of the environment and the universe.

    Society is a thermodynamic machine, to maintain a flow of logical information requires a great logical and thinking structure (‘quality’ of thought). If we have mediocre people warming the desks in both national politics (Italy, Spain, France, Germany etc) and mediocre people in the European parliament, we will only have a poor return (€/n, where n is any large number) on the input (€€€€). This makes you realise that politics has an efficiency. It is like vacuuming the floor indefinitely: at some point you will reach a physical limit whereby, no matter how much you keep vacuuming, you will not be able to clean the floor any better than it was the penultimate time.

    Bureaucracy is a thermodynamic machine: rules, standards, etc. make sense when the balance of energy used gives advantages. But when, in order to simplify the rules, one has to create more laws, subparagraphs, ad hoc regulations, exceptions etc, all of which complicate the bureaucracy, efficiency by necessity drops. People warming desks and being paid to warm them up produce even more crap when there is no need. These people raise the temperature of the universe (obviously this is metaphorical, also because the universe would warm up anyway in fact what matters is what is left of this temperature rise: Brunelleschi’s dome is certainly not like certain concrete monsters in Milan).

    Someone has to pay for this inefficiency: and look at that! the citizen. What a surprise!!! However, don’t forget that the citizen is also guilty. It is better to stand still at that point and be immovable bricks.

    And here comes the comparison with the refrigerator: I will use improper terms but I try to be as clear as possible. The refrigerator does not ‘produce’ cold but is a thermodynamic machine that moves heat. It removes heat from inside the refrigerator and throws it out. By the 2nd principle of thermodynamics, the heat it throws out will always be greater (efficiency) than the heat subtracted from inside the refrigerator.

    The lower the temperature you want to have inside the fridge, the more power you will need to extract the heat to get that temperature (temperature and heat are two different things, one is measured in °C or Kelvin and the other is measured in Watts). If the fridge gets old (motor friction increases, the insulation layer gets wetter and reduces insulating power etc) then, to maintain the same temperature as before the fridge got old, you will have to consume more power to extract the same heat.

    You are struggling with that madrenature bitch, I hope I have clarified the Zen concept.

    If we wanted to look at the problem from another angle, we could imagine putting the fridge in a closed room with no possibility of communication with the outside world (this is called a closed, adiabatic system). The fridge, we said, transfers heat from inside to outside. This means that the temperature inside will be lower than the temperature outside. But this only works if the room, in which the fridge is, can in turn absorb the heat produced by the fridge (this is a subtlety). If the room, in which the fridge is, cannot dump the heat produced by the fridge itself somewhere else (because it is sealed off from the outside) … the temperature of the room will rise (try touching a fridge at the back, where there is a serpentine, it will necessarily be warmer than room temperature). And there’s no escape…either you’ll be forced to accept that the temperature inside the fridge will also rise, or you’ll have to increase the power of the fridge, which in turn will make the room temperature rise even faster. Whatever you do you are screwed.

    Back to the comparison with politics and bureaucracy, why does it make sense to talk about fridges?

    Because bureaucracy is a thermodynamic machine and specifically works like a refrigerator. That is, those regulations, rules, laws and stuff like that serve to maintain order (a logical and orderly flow of information): a temperature of society that is low. Old regulations are like the old refrigerator, to keep the temperature of society constant you have to increase the power OR REALLY SIMPLIFY THE SYSTEM. But remember, every simplification needs laws and rules. If too much power is needed to simplify, the temperature increases even more (this is equivalent to increasing the power of the fridge in the closed room). So the costs of bureaucracy will increase.

    If it gets out of hand, there is no limit to the increasing costs of bureaucracy and thus the temperature of society will rise in turn. But I contradict myself immediately: there is a limit: every material has a melting point… high that is. And that melting point is called, in sociological science (I am not a social scientist so I interpolate with a certain degree of bravado), Collapse.

    Most responsible for the collapse will be bureaucrats and politicians and anyone who does not realise that the system is closely linked to thermodynamics.

    There are people who are able to make modern stoves less efficient than old ones. How you say? A stove! It converts all the energy that comes to it into heat! How inefficient could it be! It is the epitome of efficiency equal to one (or very close to one, 2nd principle of thermodynamics)! And yet it is possible. That is, when not all energy is converted into heat, and this happens by introducing crap like Bluetooth, smart devices and shit like that. When the ‘quality’ of the work done (and energy expended) is turned into bullshit then even the best things turn into dung. Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed. Panta rei!

    And these people who create smarter smart technology than those before them are the man-soy and, specifically, a sub-species of these is the sgaragac. We don’t want to go into the technical details of the definition of sgaragac just to say that it comes from a group of man-soys who officially call themselves S.G.A.C. In English it sounds cool but if we really want to give them the tone they deserve the pronunciation sgac is just fine. We invite you to delve into this phenomenon for yourself. People in suits taking selfies with cool backgrounds of stars, planets, palaces of power, galaxies, space endevours with fairly little knowledge of how the celestial spheres really revolutionize. And mentioning this category of individuals helps us frame the kind of inefficiencies that affect science. And there are those who will say… “well it’s obvious that, I don’t know, 80 per cent of the research is wrong, because that’s what the research is for. ” True. No one expects all research to be right, but at least some of the soy-men or sgaragac bullshit could be avoided without money being wasted on giving salaries to mediocre people. And even here… how many graduates you know would have been better off taking other paths? What do I know: plumber, carpenter, electrician? Professions that if taken seriously are real arts and not at all easy. But no…filling your mouth and talking rubbish at conferences is more stylish than being an electrician. But all this comes at a cost. The paper, the fuffa, the bureaucracy, the political science graduates, they all have a cost, the energy spent to let them proliferate is incredible.

    People who burn resources without producing absolutely anything (by product I also mean a thought, a grandiose idea, a will to challenge man himself, at the beginning we said: thinking about pussy or tits or creating the Divine Comedy. Ah..I too think of tits, Dante too, but man-soy can produce nothing but heat and bullshit, bullshit that generally wastes the time of those who are not man-soy). This waste, however, seems to the man-soy a great progress: the overview is lost: one does not realise that the temperature of society is rising and that the efforts to keep the system in perpetual motion are enormous. There is too much content- and beauty-free bullshit for things to keep going for long. For example, relocating a company from Italy to China, in the company-restricted system, is momentarily a breath of fresh air: labour costs are lowered and ROI increases; but what is lost is the knowledge that is transferred elsewhere from the people in the company and which in the long run vanishes from the company. Wake up! What is called know-how is held by old people who are now 80 years old and a few other assholes! (Certainly not the young people who are always cited as the future!) The rest has evaporated to China! The companies bleed out, the states bleed out. Culture and the ability to do, are lost evaporating on a daily basis; all that is left is the fluff of those who fill their mouths with smoke and spit it in the faces of other people who no longer understand shit because they have lost all inner reference of right-wrong, ugly-beautiful, bullshit-important.

    There’s no way out of this, we’re already fucked. The only solution is to accelerate the fall, increase the temperature of society, increase the speed of the centrifuge and throw the brick in.
